Conversation with Christian

So today I got a call from Christian Hunter about this new service his company is launching-MyNipTuck.

So now I'm here, blogging about my impressions and thoughts on it, and you're here, apparently reading them. Welcome.

I honestly had no idea that this service existed until today, but now that I do know it exists, I have to say that it seems like a pretty good idea to me. I mean, what you will look like, potentially, after cosmetic surgery, isn't something you really think about until you start seriously considering having plastic surgery.

And then, I guess, you are pretty much left in the dark, with a doctor's promises, somebody else's before-and-after pictures on the web, and your imagination. (Which, if it's anything like mine, can take you to some pretty ridiculous or scary places.) I mean, if you're thinking of having plastic surgery, you might, on a good day, suddenly imagine yourself looking like Eva Longoria or Brad Pitt, and on a bad day, like, well, the Swamp Thing.

Then there's the issue of how well you visualize. I'm pretty decent at seeing colors on a wall before I paint, but I know people who are awful at it, and besides, if you make a mistake, you can just paint over it. There's not really a lot of room for do-overs in plastic surgery, or at least not without heading down the path to Michael Jackson. Yikes.

So having a way to get a kind of objective, concrete idea of what a nose job or a chin implant might look like on you seems valuable. Helps you make up your mind, helps you determine if a change in your looks will be what you expect, and what you really want out of surgery.

I'm excited to see the pictures that come in, see what people are considering, and to know that there's a service that can help them figure out what they want to do for themselves—whether that's choosing surgery or not.
